One Direction

Yes I am a 12 year old girl and yes I love One Direction. Here are a couple of snaps of when I went to see them in Newcastle. I had the best time and danced all night! Such innocent fun.

HAPPY EASTER

Happy Easter everyone! I got up so early this morning (6.30am!) because I have a project to finish for uni. My early start meant I had a bit of time to spare so before cracking on I did a bit of baking - treats to get me through the day! I made Rosie's Banana Nutella Swirl Muffins. They are SO good I accidentally ate 3 before 10am. Choc for breakfast is acceptable on Easter Sunday anyway.

Hope you all enjoy your day and eat chocolate to your little hearts' content!

Klosters Ski Trip

Here are a few pics from my recent skiing holiday to Klosters, Switzerland. One of my friends lives there so luckily we had free accommodation in a gorgeous family home - having a fire everyday made relaxing after skiing SO much cosier. Absolutely detoxing now I'm home, think I managed two hot chocolates a day on the slopes!

Now back to the dissertation...

Mothers Day

Being the perfect daughter that I am (honest) I came home for the weekend to see my mom for Mothers Day! Being a penniless student I couldn't afford much of a present so I decided to bake her a cake instead. I am not a master baker by ANY means (no matter how hard I try I cannot get cookies right - they always end up melted in to each other in a bubbly mess, what am I doing wrong?) but I have to say this was a pretty good effort.

Presenting....White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake!

This was a BBC Good Food recipe and it honestly couldn't have been easier. I had a slice for pudding earlier and have already been back to the fridge to pick at the sides (sacrilege!)

How have you all spent the weekend?

Take me away...

It's March and the weather is still HORRIBLE.
I am fantasising about exotic places and a summer wardrobe...

LENT

I know, I know, ANOTHER picture of a pancake. No doubt you've seen 1000000 others on Facebook and Instagram in the past couple of days. This one in particular was delicious (I had around 15 yesterday) and is a sad reminder of what I'm giving up for lent...sweets and chocolate.

Will I last? I hope so! I would quite like to prove to myself that I have at least a little bit of self control. What are you guys giving up?!

Effaclar Duo and Bioderma

I know that blog posts on these products have been done to death and most beauty addicts will already own these BUT I like to read reviews from as many sources as possible so thought I'd chip in my two cents.

As expected, both products live up to the hype.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo

From reading reviews and watching various YouTube videos about this I thought it would change my life. While it hasn't done quite that I would definitely say this now a staple product. The texture of my skin has become so much smoother and I definitely think it has prevented some major breakouts. My blackheads haven't seemed to disappear but maybe they will in time. If you get this be patient it took a few weeks for me and also gave me a few dry patches whilst my skin got used to it. I use it morning and night after cleansing and under moisturiser if my skin needs a boost.

Bioderma Créaline H20

This make up remover is the best I've ever used. I've tried cream cleansers in the past and have always managed to get them in my eye and then had blurry vision for 20 minutes! Bioderma couldn't be easier to use and what is more it has no stinging effect on my skin which is unusual as mine is fairly sensitive. It makes the whole process of make up removal so much faster and has helped my skin in the long term. I got it from this buyer on eBay, but it is cheaper in France so if you have a friend or family member going soon try and sweet talk them in to getting you a present!

A couple of recent eBay purchases. The Celine dupe is great but the Kenzo jumper is a little small and...stiff?! I guess that's karma for buying fakes!

Current distractions from work! helllp

I WANT (never gets)

Literally been DROOLING over Zara's new collection. If only the student loan hadn't already been spent...

Here are a couple of my faves...

I think the textured shirt/top is so beautiful and classic. The kind of top I should save for good but would end up wearing to the library! The trousers and skirt are two things I don't really have in my wardrobe and would add a bit of interest, my problem is always what kind of top to wear. I want this necklace soo badly but already have some similar so can't justify it...at the moment. Zara Y U SO NICE!

The winter blues...

Now 2013 is upon us we can start thinking about spring/summer trends (finally) and begin to shed the winter layers (which for me is about 20) and embrace the better weather. Spring can't come soon enough! However, outside it is still miserable and my layers remain firmly on. The only way I can make a start with the spring is through my nails! Here are a few of my current favourites...

Glitter nails: these are set to remain a staple among nail art lovers, but with a twist. Instead of painting the whole nail, a more chic version is to ombre the glitter, from either the nail tip or the cuticle, leaving a gradual effect. Use a toned down shade as the base coat and allow the glitter to do all the talking.

Textures: with caviar nails being worn by everyone and their mum last year, thank goodness that there are some fresh texture polishes coming out this season. Nails Inc are leading with this, bringing out an amazing range of new varnishes. From their leather effect polish currently loved by Alexa Chung, to their 3D glitter polish (pictured) creating a more matte effect and their limited edition 'concrete' range which comes in four colours - there is no reason to be bored in 2013!

Neon: huge for spring, the neon trend is yet to die out. Having neon nails means you can incorporate the trend without blinding everyone else! To get the best out of your colour, apply a white basecoat and paint over the top. The 2013 Dior 'Cruise' collection has three great neons, but if you are looking more towards the high street, American Apparel and even Primark have neon polishes.

Two Tone: an easy way to achieve a striking look, the two-tone manicure can be done in a variety of ways. Incorporating the flash of metallic look that was seen in the Monika Chaing and Nicole Miller shows in New York, this look can be achieved by simply painting a silver base and finishing with a black line that follows the nail bed. French manicure stickers are also useful and can be placed at any point on the nail to vary the colour block.

What are you guys doing with your nails at the moment? Is it helping to banish the winter blues?
